Good News

Don't you wish there was a news channel, blog or website that only listed good news? What a difference it has made in my daily life to not read all of the popular news blogs that I once did. Not that we should be oblivious to what is going on in the world, but unless it has a direct impact on my family, or is something that is within my control to change, what good does it do to think about? It will only cause worry or anger, both of which are a sin. I would much rather focus on all of the good that takes place every day but is not nearly as popular in the TV ratings department.

Computer security breaches are a $1 trillion problem, Bloomberg news service recently reported.

That number is huge, but equally disturbing is the fact that hackers exploit human weaknesses to get behind sophisticated firewalls and security systems.

Bloomberg reported that a Homeland Security Department test showed hackers could manipulate people with surprising ease.

*Creating a password that is hard to crack.
By Shan Li

If there's one lesson to be learned from the rash of hack attacks recently, it's the value of a strong password.

Just look at what the hacker group LulzSec dug up. After hacking into the websites of the CIA, PBS and Sony, it posted on the Internet the email addresses and passwords of 62,000 compromised accounts.

A quick scan of the list showed that most passwords were easy to remember — and easy to crack. Sample: “wildwoman,” “coffeecup,” “peterp” and “kindle.”

Whether in your job or at home, most all of us use technology on a daily or more likely hourly basis.

Do you have anti-virus software installed and is it being updated? (you can even use one of the free products like AVG or Avast!)

Do you have your Windows Updates installed automatically?

Massive Confusion About the Gospel

Familiar with the Restoring Honor Rally last week in DC with Glen Beck?

This is why Americans are so confused about the Gospel and who Jesus Christ really is. Which God is Glen Beck referring to? Certainly not the God of the Bible!

Christmas: A Season of Salvation

Christmas has different meanings for each one of us, but family gatherings, good food, friends, travel, shopping, ball games, exchanging of gifts and religious celebration still seem to be part of almost everyone's Christmas celebrations.

Give Thanks!

Thanksgiving Day is a distinctive holiday. It doesn't commemorate a battle or anyone's birthday or anniversary. It is simply a day set aside to express our nation's thanks to our nation's God

How did it happen?

Acts 15:35
But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord.

Thoughts for Today:

Obituary from the London Times

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
